The Bulova Military Collection features historic designs that honor the brand’s rich heritage of creating purpose-built timepieces for the United States Armed Forces. The Bulova A-15 Pilot Watch is based on the original design of the military-issued A-15 “Elapsed Time Watch” that Bulova produced for the United States Army back in 1944.

The 42mm stainless steel case has a lug width of 20mm, and it includes a sapphire crystal and a screwed-on case back for a water resistance rating of 30 meters. Originally designed to help with navigation, the Bulova A-15 Pilot Watch features two separate rotating scales surrounding the perimeter of its dial, with one offering a 12-hour scale and the other graduated for 60-minutes. Rotating the two scales is achieved by turning the additional crowns located on the side of the watch’s case, and this highly flexible system can be used to either display a secondary time zone or to measure the duration of an event up to 12-hours.

Driving the three centrally-mounted hands of the Bulova A-15 Pilot Watch is the Miyota 82S6 automatic movement, which offers reliable mechanical timekeeping and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Like the original model from 1944, the modern Bulova A-15 Pilot Watch features a hacking seconds feature, but the true brilliance of its innovative design is that all of its additional functionality is achieved through its rotating bezels, which allows the watch itself to run on a simple and easily serviceable time-only automatic movement.

About Bulova

Founded in 1875, Bulova is an American watch company based in New York City that was one of the most prominent brands in the industry throughout most of the 20th century. A true household name, Bulova is credited with numerous contributions to watchmaking, including creating the world’s first fully-electronic wristwatch using the brand’s proprietary tuning-fork based technology. Bulova timepieces have been issued to members of the United States Military, used on 46 different NASA missions, and even worn by astronauts on the surface of the Moon. Since 2008, Bulova has been owned by Citizen Watch Co. and the company continues to operate out of its New York City headquarters, producing high-quality timepieces that honor the brand’s remarkable and diverse history.
