Inspired by the brutal, but innovative Group B rally cars of the ’80s, the Autodromo Group B features sharp lines, hard facets, technical detailing, combined steel and titanium construction, and contrasting colors that speak to the futurist visions of Giugiaro and Mead. For the Series 2 an integrated steel bracelet, as well as spring-bar lugs, have been added to this daring design. Featuring a slatted design, the bracelet builds off of the severe design of the case, creating a seamless line of metal around the wrist.

The Windup Edition is a limited run of 145 pieces in a unique monochromatic gray and blue colorway. The bracelet, mid-case, and crown have all been plated with titanium gray PVD and then matte finished, for a flat, dark overall appearance. The dial surface is then treated to perfectly match the gray of the case. The hands, indexes, and dial type are rendered in electric blue, which pops off the dial. In addition to the steel bracelet, the Windup Edition comes with an Admiralty Gray ADPT strap, which further plays with the blue and gray palette.

Inside of the Group B Series 2 is the Miyota 9015 automatic caliber. This Japanese-made movement is quickly becoming an industry workhorse, due to its reliability and delightfully thin profile. The 9015 features 24-jewels, date, hand-winding, 42-hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800 bph (beats per hour) and hacking seconds (the second-hand stops when the crown is pulled out).

About Autodromo

Since their debut in 2011, Autodromo has created a tightly focused array of beautifully designed and engineered timepieces for the automotive-minded watch enthusiast. From the NY headquarters of founder and chief designer Bradley Price, Autodromo’s watches bleed mid-century motoring style, with an emphasis on the classic feel of European motorsports. Finishing is key to this stylish ethos, with Autodromo models often featuring engineering, design and finishing outshining watches costing several times as much. Standout models include the Stradale line, meant to capture the ethos of 1950’s Italian sports cars; the Monoposto series, translating the forms of early Formula 1 racing gauges into a stylish and beautifully made work of art for the wrist; and the Group B, which takes the aggressive high-tech forms of the fire-breathing Group B off road rally cars of the 1980s and melds them into a razor-sharp modern sports watch.
