While Tissot is a storied Swiss watchmaker, having been founded in 1880, they are best known for their line of sexy, 70s-inspired sports watches called PRX. A throwback to an era of bell bottoms, big cars, record players, etc… the PRXs feature an “integrated bracelet” design, meaning the case and bracelet or strap seamlessly flow into each other. First reintroduced in 2020, Tissot has continued to evolved the design, which now is culminating in a new and interesting sporty Carbon version.

This new version features a black forged carbon 40mm case. The material is lightweight and durable, coming in at 75 grams (the stainless steel PRX Powermatic 80 40MM on rubber strap is 91 grams). It also leads to a unique watch because as the material sets, it will have a different appearance from watch to watch. Gone are the polished surfaces, which are now all matte black. The watch still has a classic barrel shape with faceted sides that cleanly flow into a tapering black rubber strap. A thin 10.9mm height, and integrated bracelet design allow for a comfortable fit on wrists both large and small. The dial features lume-filled batons on top of a black carbon that seems to come alive as it moves in the light. 

Powering the Tissot PRX Carbon is the Powermatic 80.111 Swiss-made automatic movement. Featuring an impressive 80-hour power reserve, the Powermatic 80.111 is a 23-jewel movement with hacking seconds, date, Nivachron balance spring, and a frequency of 21,600 bph. Visible through the display case back, the Powermatic 80.111 has a nicely decorated rotor.
